Actress Spotlight: TV Legend Margo Martindale in "The Americans", "Justified" and More

Margo Martindale is a 3-time winner and 6-time nominee for the Emmy's. She could have even more. Marg is oft sought-out to bring more credit to a television series and has succeeded many times. Continue reading...

I've personally seen her in three television shows and each time was a proper display of acting. Let's quickly look at each.

📺The Americans (drama series follows two KGB agents living as Americans in the 1980s): This is Martindale's shining beacon as this show notched her 2 Emmy wins and 2 more nominations. She plays Claudia who helps handle the shows, two protagonists. It's crisp, and you don't want to look away. It's precision acting. It's probably something that is studied in acting school.

📺 Justified (drama series follows marshalls and outlaws in Kentucky's backwoods): This is one of Martindale's Emmy wins from 2011 for her portrayal of Mags Bennett. This character is a family crime lord in the backwoods of eastern Kentucky. This performance proves her acting range. When you're a crime lord, sometimes you get rough, and her character is no exception. The common TV watcher may normally find a grandmotherly aged person committing hoodlum activities amusing, but this is not one of those. This show is one of my favorite dramas period, and her season may be the best one. Read a review of this show by clicking here.

📺Dexter (drama series follows a serial killer with a conscience who works for Miami Metro as a blood-spatter analyst): ***This paragraph will have a spoiler, so skip it if you want to watch the show, Dexter. Margo Martindale, aka Camilla Figg, is in a few seasons of this bloody drama as a records keeper for Miami Metro. She has a special connection to the protagonist Dexter because she knew him as a child and of his past. I went through all that to get to one of the best sequences of scenes on television. Her character is dying of cancer and has several interactions with Dexter in the hospital. You'd swear they cast someone who actually had a terminal illness because her performance is so real. It blew my mind that she did not receive a guest actress nomination. As I aforementioned, it's some of the finest acting I've ever seen on TV. Read a review of this show by clicking here.

There is much more you can say about her career, and I'm sure there is more to come. When it comes to TV stars, remember her name as one of the gold standards. This has been an *Actress Spotlight* on Margo Martindale.
