"Clueless": Great 1990s Comedy

"Clueless" from 1995 is one of the better entries into the teen comedy genre, and it does so without being overly vulgar. Even films like "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" from the same director, Amy Heckerling, is not nearly as good to me.

STORY: Cher is used to being popular, pretty, and rich at her Beverly Hills high school. She decides to become a matchmaker for teachers and friends in an effort to do something nice for others but also unintentionally causes some issues.

Alicia Silverstone never became a household name, but she still acts and is excellent in this role. She plays a ditzy or 'clueless' (get it?) girl whose life has been smooth sailing.

At first, she is using her matchmaking powers for selfish reasons but then decides to try and do some good. She takes the new girl under her wing. At first, it seems she is trying to make someone in her image which is explored in the story. This backfires for a bit, but both girls realize their issues and makeup again. The new girl gains new friends albeit in an unconventional manner.

This movie oozes 1990s vibes. The color palette, hairstyles, baggy pants, phrases, and much more shows it all. It is great.

If you did not know Paul Rudd before "Anchorman" or "Antman", here is a performance for you. This is back when he seemed to be type-cast as the 'straight man' character. He played the guy who was really normal and not much of a joker. Obviously, he was discovered later in his career as a comedian.

Look, this is a good movie. I am a man and do not care that people know that I enjoy "Clueless." In fact, I recommend you see it for yourself. My film rating is an A-.
