The Super Mario Bros. Movie: Film Dedicated to Fans

"The Super Mario Bros. Movie" has been an uber-successful film as a box office and fan hit. Critics were a little harsher on it, but that hasn't affected anything. Fans of the game have a lot of reasons to see this movie.

The Mario movie is a fan service film. It's for the die-hard fans who grew up with a Nintendo and have a Switch today. You can still enjoy it as the common movie-goer, but the experience will be different. It incorporates the green pipes, platforms, kart racing, rainbow bridge, and many characters.

The movie relies on these characters and references. The story is pretty simple, but it's not like the source material has a story to follow. They aren't those kinds of games. Given those circumstances, the film is made in an entertaining way. It does what it needs to give the fans what they want.

The cast is an absolute all-star list with the likes of Cris Pratt, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Anya Taylor-Joy, Keegan-Michael Key, and more. The biggest complaint was that Pratt didn't have Mario's voice, but think about this. Do you really want an hour and a half of Mario's voice? No. After the first minute, I didn't think about it being Pratt's voice anymore.

Everyone is loving "Peaches" by Jack Black's Bowser, and it is a pretty catchy song. If it actually gets an Oscar nomination, I'd love that just to see Black perform it on stage.

Fans of the Nintendo series should enjoy this movie, so you want to go see it. My film rating is a B-.
