I have chosen my top three movies of 2019. While I didn't get to see every film I desired to, this is a genuine list. It was an extremely hard decision to choose and then rank my top three. Read here, and see how much you agree!
1. 1917
It's number one!!! What can you say about a movie that leaves you speechless? Roger Deakins is the cinematographer in this art house one-take style war film. He and Sam Mendes, the director, deliver a near-perfect picture following George MacKay and Dean-Charles Chapman. The former gives the performance of a lifetime, and I can't say enough. 2. Richard Jewell
I did not expect Clint Eastwood's, Richard Jewell, to be my and Drake brother Logan's second-best film of the year. However, it was undeniable as the credits starting rolling. Up and coming actor, Paul Walter Hauser, played the title character Jewell which is based on a real man and his story. This hero saved hundreds of lives during the Atlanta Olympics bombing, but he was profiled by the FBI and media as the bomber. This film tested my emotions, and I almost broke a couple of times. I implore you to see this as soon as possible. You can read our movie review by clicking here.
3. John Wick: Chapter 3- Parabellum
This flick lands my third spot. Due to it being an action film, you won't see it be nominated for best picture, but it is awesome. Keanu Reeves is the man. He's 55, yet can perform epic stunts I only dream of doing. The action, drama, comedy and everything else flows perfectly in this genre-defining cinema piece. 4. Doctor Sleep
Doctor Sleep makes my list in an update. I didn't watch this until 2020, so sorry Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. This sequel to The Shining is horrifyingly great starring Ewan McGregor and the Oscar-worthy performance of Rebecca Ferguson. It manages to draw from its predecessor while telling its own story. 5. Ford v. Ferrari
This true story features the power of American persistence to overcome great odds. Christian Bale and Matt Damon both deliver powerhouse performances en route to a thrilling movie. Director James Mangold does an excellent job with editing, sound mixing, sound editing and more. Click here for a full review.
