"Tombstone": ***I'm your huckleberry...

Sometimes two companies really want to make the same film at the same time, and both refuse to back down. A recent example is Netflix's Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018) and The Jungle Book (2016) from Disney. The same happened, except closer together, with Tombstone (1993) and Wyatt Earp (1994) which premiered only six months apart. While both biographical genres are good, Tombstone takes the best shot.

STORY: Famous successful lawman Wyatt Earp reties, and he and his brothers travel to Tombstone, Arizona to make some money. Shortly after their arrival, cowboys cause some trouble.

***My favorite part of the movie is Val Kilmer's performance as Doc Holiday. He carries the role like no other can with so much glamour and showmanship. His charisma is off the charts as a gambler and close friend of Earp not to mention he's a linguaphile. Every line he delivers is excellent, but some do stand out including the famous "I'm your Huckleberry". Others consist of "I've got two guns, one for each of you", "You're a daisy if you do", and there's another that's not quoted as often.

Wyatt tells Doc he doesn't have to participate in the stand-off, so he responds "That's a hell of a thing for you to say to me." Doc was up for a firefight, and there was no way you were gonna stop him. Kilmer gives a top 15 performance to me. Doc's a wild man.

Including Doc Holiday, it's an all-star cast. Sam Elliot and Bill Paxton comprise the other Earp brothers. Michael Biehn is the outlaw, Johnny Ringo. We can't forget our main character with Kurt Russel as himself, Wyatt Earp. He also has a famous line that reads "Tell 'em the laws coming. You tell 'em I'm coming, and hell's coming with me." This represents how much the law means and what it takes to keep people safe.

<What's best about these characters listed above? Well... they all grew their own mustaches, so that's cool!> Other ladies of the film were excellent too including Dana Wheeler-Nicholson as Mattie Earp and Dana Delany as Josephine Marcus.

If you need more convincing, it's a full-on cowboy flick. There's gunslinging, outlaws, lawmen, and everything else. The famous scene depicts the famous shootout at the O.K. Corral, and it's great. You need to watch to fully understand.

Watch it today! My film rating is A+.
