The Princess Bride (1987) is a great and unique film that people have been watching for years. I don't think I have met someone yet who dislikes this movie. Read here why I think this, and see my score! Spoilers may follow.

This motion picture follows a simple tale of two people in love but is split up by the world. After that, the story is not so simple and follows fantasy elements with fighting and more. All of this is a story being told to a kid from his grandad.

First off, the narration is an interesting element for the first quality part of this movie. Many films only use that when they do not have enough story, but The Princess Bride is only embellished by this aspect. Also, the acting is excellent. Westley, played by Cary Elwes, is a fantastic lead while Robin Wright is a great co-lead.

Other characters such as Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin) and Fezzik (Andre the Giant) provide memorable characters and moments throughout the film. An infamous line is "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die." This is quoted all the time. The incredible wit displayed in the screenplay is unmatched by most modern-day cinema. This along with great directing from Rob Reiner delivers an "inconceivable"... (get it) and really nice movie.

There are not many issues in this movie. Some people may say some of the sets are not up to standard, but others would argue that it is part of the appeal. It keeps up the fantasy element. Besides that, I would argue that one or so conversations go on too long like with the man who was bringing Westley back from the grave. This is small compared to the scope of the movie.

Overall, this spectacularly original movie is one everyone can enjoy. It's a great mix of romance, comedy, fantasy and even some action. Go watch it again if it has been a long time... if you wish. My movie rating is an A.
