"The Prince of Egypt" (1998) follows the famous story of Exodus. This historical Epic follows Moses. He was born a slave and luck, really more than that, brought him to be raised by Egyptian royalty. Moses discovers his roots and is chosen by God to lead the Hebrew people to freedom.
There is so much right with this movie including the all-star cast. The list includes Val Kilmer as Moses, Ralph Fiennes as Ramses, Sandra Bullock as Miriam, Michelle Pfieffer as Tzipporah, Jeff Goldblum as Aaron, Danny Glover as Jethro, Patrick Stewart as Seti, Helen Miran as the queen, Steven Martin as Hotep, and Martin Short as Hoy.
This list is especially impressive being a biblical movie. If we are being honest, the majority of biblically-based movies are not the most well-made. However, this film bucks that stereotype with flying colors.
This film is full of award-worthy and award-winning music. The score by Hans Zimmer was nominated while "When You Believe" won Best Original Song at the Oscars. I have a hard time picking my favorite song. It's between the former and "Deliver Us."
I watched this with a good friend named Anna Laura since this is her favorite movie (birthday shoutout albeit a little late!), and we are going with the latter song. This is the opening theme that really sets the tone of the film. I will attach some links, so you all can decide.
This 2D animated film from 1998 still has amazing graphics. The best example is when Moses parts the Red Sea. Simply put, it is stunning. I have read the scripture multiple times, but there is something to seeing it on the screen.
This is a film that everyone should watch whether you believe it really happened or not. My film rating is an A+.
