Rush Hour 2 (2001) is the movie I've seen most of the trilogy, and it's my favorite. Let's get into why now!
Carter (Chris Tucker) and Lee (Jackie Chan) are on vacation to Hong Kong, but they get caught up in a counterfeit money scam.
I can't not watch this film when channel flipping. Everyone has that film that makes them happy no matter what's happening, and Rush Hour 2 is mine.
The biggest reason this film works is the chemistry between Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. They're an unlikely match that rivals any other buddy cop duo put to screen. Examples of this include tag team fighting whether it's in bathrobes or suits. Another is adlibbing conversations to distract enemies and so on. It's great.
Many films have tough side adversaries, and usually, they're okay. However, Ziyi Zhang as Hu Li is exceptional. She's a kung fu master that proves trouble for the duo. Also, Ricky Tan, played by John Lone, does the job you'd expect from a seedy crime boss.
A scene I want to mention is the time they first meet Ricky Tan (the antagonist). Carter does his usually cocky routine which puts him and Lee in big trouble. They fight in bathrobes and towels which you can imagine allows for some ludicrous moments.
As far as the technical components of the film go, this one is solid. The fighting is better than most films. Jackie Chan does all of his stunts which I could only dream of accomplishing. The music is catchy. The editing is crisp and more.
The final scene is worth mentioning too. That Las Vegas casino is somewhere I'd like to visit first off. We get to see Chris Tucker dance around along with mini bombs, fighting and more.
Overall, it's an amusing film that makes me laugh out loud, and I think you may too. My movie rating is A.
