"Incredibles 2": Hero-sized Fun

Updated: Apr 5, 2020

Incredibles 2 (2018) is a long-awaited sequel to one of Disney/Pixar's best films. Actually, I would go so far as to say the original is my favorite Pixar movie. With that in mind, the expectations were high, so let's see how it compared! Spoilers may follow.

Many great things happened in this cinema piece. First off, I liked the plot setting. Taking place as soon as the first movie ended is an interesting choice that most sequels don't do because it can be hard to accomplish especially being made several years later. The animation is stellar is usual from Pixar. The premise for the story is pretty good as well.

Heros are trying to come back into the light, and it can be done through the Deavors. The action sequences are excellent in the movie. The drill scene at the beginning was exciting as well as the yacht at the end. For the characters, Frozone is used more in this one versus the first which is fantastic. Jack-Jack and his storyline are good to a degree. Mr. and Mrs. Incredible is fine as always along with Dash and Violet. The persona of Screenslaver is pretty entertaining. It's cryptic, sinister and interesting.

There are a couple of things I would have changed for this movie. First, a strength can sometimes be a weakness. Jack-Jack was overused in this movie. In my opinion, they kept giving him more and more powers just to fill up time not because it was helping the story. The plot twist that Screenslaver was not the real villain was interesting but somehow disappointing. Evelyn Deavor was still a decent antagonist but not as much.

Overall, it's a good movie that Pixar fans should go see. It doesn't quite live up to the hype of the first movie, but Incredibles 2 is still entertaining! Watch it. My movie rating is B.
