*Wow*This was harder than expected to compile a list of my favorite Disney songs. So many fantastic tunes have emerged, and many great ones fell just short of my list. Read here!!!
1. Be Our Guest: Beauty and the Beast (1991)
After a tough decision, this famous Beauty and the Beast piece takes the #1 spot. Although a different song from this film won the Oscar, it was still nominated. Through dazzling visuals, exceptional vocals and more, it manages to be as memorable as it is lifting. You want to be in Belle's seat for this.
2. Circle of Life: The Lion King (1994)
This song is as iconic as it gets. The Lion King begins with that sun rising with Elton John singing. We can all hear it and love to sing it. It's an undeniable great beginning to one of Disney's best movies.
3. I'll Make a Man Out of You: Mulan (1998)
I've always loved this composition. I sing along every time it comes on! This one may not be as high as other peoples, but what can I say? I guess as a young boy I liked it. Growing up, this film was one of my favorites, so that helps.
4. Beauty and the Beast: Beauty and the Beast (1991)
Yes, you're reading this right. The song is also titled "Beauty and the Beast". Mrs. Potts (Angela Lansbury) beautifully performs this Oscar-winning theme as Belle and Beast dance in the ballroom. It's graceful, alluring, and it has a timeless story about love. To quote, one verse relays "Tale as old as time, true as it can be, barely even friends then somebody bends unexpectedly."
5. Go the Distance: Hercules (1997)
This is a powerful song from a sometimes underrated Disney entity. It's one for people who doubt themselves. It's inspirational. This is one I'd be tempted to do during a karaoke night.
6. Under the Sea: The Little Mermaid (1989)
What can I say about this musical number? It makes me feel happy. The sea chanty tune makes you want to grow some gills and explore Atlantis. It won't surprise most of you that it won best original song.
7. A Whole New World: Aladdin (1992)
From one of my favorite animated movies comes a top 10 song. I sing this one as much as any on this list. It's romantic, magical, and powerful. Plus, Jasmine is one of my two favorite Disney princesses.
8. Colors of the Wind: Pocahontas (1995)
This is another Oscar-winning song. I think this one is technically sound and memorable. The imagery associated with this number is beautiful. I'll always remember the colorful leaves blowing in the wind (hence the song title).
9. Hakuna Matata: The Lion King (1994)
Some of you probably think this should be higher, but it still makes my top 10. Growing up, people sang this all the time, and they still do. Many want to sing with Timon and Pumbaa.
10. Kiss the Girl: The Little Mermaid (1989)
Finally, The Little Mermaid tune rounds out the list. It's another classic song from this Disney era. It's simply a nice happy song.
