"Dirty Harry": *Apex of a Manly Movie*, "Do I Feel Lucky? Well, do you, punk?"

Like the title suggests, Dirty Harry (1971) is the apex of a manly movie. Sure, anyone can watch it, and I suggest you do so at least once. Especially, if you're a group of guys looking for a bonding film, or you've gone through something emotional as a man, there's nothing like Dirty Harry to ease your thoughts for a while.

This film is gritty to the core. I can't stress that enough. Think of all the cliches about detective work in the underbelly of society. Well, they aren't cliches for this movie because it's what made them popular.

Clint Eastwood is the man. His collection of Hollywood gold films is extensive. It's debatable, but Inspector Harry Callahan may be his most well-known performance although Unforgiven is probably his best. Callahan only wants justice to be served no matter how it gets done. Of course, he gets into some trouble over this passion.

Besides Eastwood himself, the quotes are legendary with the BIG one listed first below.

"I know what you're thinking. 'Did he fire six shots or only five'? Well to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I kind of lost track myself. But being that this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well do ya, punk?"

Oh ya! That's the stuff. The .44 magnum itself is famous. The picture from that quote is displayed here. A couple of other ones I noted include "Well I'm all broken up about that man's rights" and "Because he looks too d*** good, that's how".

Also, directing from Don Siegal helped make it an action classic. Some instances include Harry still chewing on his sandwich while in a gunfight and not talking much to start the film following a murder. Particularly, having no music while Harry runs around playing payphone tag with the killer. It adds to the tension/ridiculousness Harry feels while doing this assignment.

The killer, Scorpio, is a real freak, to put it bluntly. He enjoys killing and will go after anyone. That's what the film was going for, so good job.

Overall, it's a great film! This classic man's man movie is something you need to see. My film rating is A+.
