Sometimes a film comes along that changes your life. This is that film. Newcomer director, Anna Gurganus, brilliantly captures the heart in this documentary. She has a knack that will surely lead to many awards in the future. I will be shocked if she leaves next award season without a best-directing win. Move over Steven Spielberg!
The acting is top-notch with Savannah Hamm and Brady Drake likely earning acting nominations. Each clearly spent several months perfecting what they wanted to say. Both performances can bring the manliest of men on the verge of tears.
The camera work was superb. It is as if a team of top-notch cinematographers collaborated together to make this exquisite work of art. I would be remiss not to mention the sound and visual effects. I wonder which famous choir they got to sing "The Greatest Commands?" The layering of this over the documentary adds an element that pierces the soul.
The story encapsulates the question of what is happening to young people and Christianity. The picture shows the beautiful moments and the hard ones. This is a documentary that will reach millions, and it will be loved by millions.
My film rating is an A+.
