Let's take a look at the original avenger. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) is from the first phase of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. See why it ranks here in my countdown!

This story is old and well known. A young man named Steve Rogers is picked for a military experiment to create the perfect soldier. It is successful, and he goes on to help the Allies defeat the Nazi soldiers in world war two.

There are several great parts to this movie. Chris Evans as Captain America is a fantastic casting choice. He may have been surprising but has shown he is the character.

Other casting choices were fine as well including Tommy Lee Jones, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Hugo Weaving as Red Skull and especially Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter. Her performance is commendable throughout the film.

Another interesting part is warfare. Since it is war, people die. They do not shy away from this as Captain America has to use guns some himself. The production design is especially nice in this movie. It was harder than some of the other MCU movies due to it being a period piece. Of course, components involving editing, CGI, and other various parts were good too.

There aren't any major issues in this movie. The only thing people may be missing is the "it" factor. It is a solid film but many fans do not think about this one as much as the rest.

Overall, this is quietly an excellent movie that more MCU fans should be watching. My movie rating is A-.
