Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) is another entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This sequel came out the same year as Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity Wars. It was a nice change of pace from world-ending scenarios to something more personal. Read here for the score! Spoilers may follow.

After Scott Lang (Ant-Man) helped out Captain America in Germany, he was caught and subsequently put under house arrest. During this, Hank Pym and Hope (The Wasp) need his help to rescue Pym's wife from the quantum realm.

There are a plethora of satisfactory things in this movie. For starters, Paul Rudd is again a great choice to play Ant-Man while Evangeline Lilly is perfect for The Wasp. Both of these leads are adept with emotion and have excellent chemistry. Michael Douglas as Hank Pym and Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Foster are good. Also, Hannah John-Kamman as Ghost and Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch are firm antagonists.

This movie operates on a variety of levels. The father-daughter relationship between Ghost and Foster is interesting as well as keeping Cassie, Lang's daughter, involved. The story itself is something I like because it's personal and not world ending. Most MCU movies these days are the later now, so it's nice to change it up.

Most jokes were pretty funny including the oblivious hipsters in the coffee shop on their laptops. It's so true. I would be remiss if I did not mention Lang's three friends. The X-Cons (business name) are funny as usual with their banter. Of course, Michael Pena from the three is great. The writers heard our plea, and they kept his character Luis involved even giving him some action scenes. I do have one question for everyone. Will we see Michael Pena in a suit for Ant-Man 3? I hope that's the case.

There are a couple of things negative about this movie. Mainly, there are a few jokes that go on too long. To me, it was the school joke scene. Lang being the size of a toddler goes much too long and becomes a little annoying. There are one or two more jokes that are just okay after that. Other than those, it all lands.

Overall, it is a quality film. This motion picture plays directly into Infinity Wars, and I think everyone knows what I mean by that. Go watch this film! My movie rating is an A.
