The Incredible Hulk (2008) was the second Marvel Cinematic Universe movie ever made. Read here why it still holds up today! Spoilers may follow.

Bruce Banner is still on the run from General Ross and the military as he looks to cure himself. At the same time, he is trying to suppress the Hulk inside of him.

There are a lot of positive things about this movie. Let's start with something we all know is true. Edward Norton is the better Bruce Banner. You can fight me, but you all know I'm right. His version is believable as a nerdy scientist while Mark Ruffalo's later interpretation is not as much. Also, William Hurt as General Ross, Tim Roth as Blonsky/The Abomination, and Liv Tyler as Betty Ross all play exceptional roles. Don't forget Tim Blake Nelson who (spoiler alert) became the villain, The Leader, but he will probably never be used, unfortunately. Remember, General Ross continues in the franchise, yet he doesn't interact with Banner coincidently.

I especially think Betty's character is one of the best love interests in all of Marvel which is why my next rant is coming. After this film, other writers and directors ignore her character even though her father is in later movies. I'm still enraged over this, and I will never get over the issue. Okay, I'm done with that now.

Who doesn't like a good old fashioned fugitive film? Him on the run and not being able to control the Hulk brings a lot of tremendous sized moments. I also would like to point out that the overall tone is completely different from nearly any other MCU film (something favorable in my opinion). Many current Marvel movies all follow the same path for better or worse.

The main issue in the movie is the Hulk CGI. It's not like it is bad, but it is definitely improved upon in later movies. Other than that, I have no more quarrels.

Overall, I really enjoy The Incredible Hulk. Some people may forget about this one, but I refuse to! Go watch it again. My movie rating is an A.
