The Avengers (2012) was a movie that many of us grew up thinking was a fantasy to ever see on the big screen. It was one until Marvel Studios started its ambitious product, and here we are eleven years later. I was a mere freshman in high school when this movie came out, and we were all so excited. It did not disappoint. Read here for the rating! Spoilers may follow.
This movie is what we all wanted to see. The Avengers finally sharing the screen was monumental. Watching Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye fight together was great. One of the reasons this film succeeded is because of Loki (Tom Hiddleston).
He is perhaps the best villain in the MCU to grace the screen. His performance is memorable and always fun to watch. The movie pacing was excellent as well. Nothing was rushed or too drawn out. We got to see the inner workings of S.H.I.E.L.D finally. You got to see just how big scenes can be with the battle of New York. Also, Joss Whedon did a great job directing this movie. His vision was perfect and executed very well. I could go on here, but I will move on.
There are a couple of issues in the movie. With how Bruce Banner was written in his previous film and the line "I'm always angry", he shouldn't have lost control. At the end of The Incredible Hulk, Edward Norton's Bruce Banner (the superior performance) had controlled the rage. That combined with the line is a movie mistake. Also, I wasn't a fan of Hawkeye being mind-controlled for so long.
Overall, this movie did not disappoint. I enjoyed it back then, and I still do now. My movie rating is an A.
