"Tucker and Dale vs Evil": Comedic Horror that Stands with the Best
Updated: Apr 9, 2020
Tucker and Dale vs Evil (2010) is a comedic horror tale of misunderstanding. It's filled with gore and laughs as our two protagonists find themselves at odds against college campers who think they're murderers. Read here for the review, and mild spoilers may follow.
Tucker (Alan Tudyk the voice artist whiz) and Dale (Tyler Labine) are redneck folk who have just ascertained a vacation home. Both actors do a fine job by the way along with the main woman Allison (Katrina Bowden).
The problem is that the place is extremely creepy and probably belonged to a psychopath before them. If you despise awkward situations, you will hate this movie. If you think those situations are amusing, this is the film for you. The situations they find themselves in couldn't be worse, and that's why they can't decide whether to talk to the police. The scene in question is towards the beginning when the campers think their friend was kidnapped by Tucker and Dale. In reality, she hit her head and almost drowned, so they saved her. The friends attempt to attack them but keep falling ill to insane deaths accidentally. Have you ever wanted to see someone dive into a woodchipper or fall into a ditch on a spear? That's just a couple of the scenarios.
It's a hilarious movie. As a southern gentleman myself, a lot of films portray the deep south as stupid and incompetent. However, the characters may be simple here, but they aren't stupid. Dale is even a trivia genius. Essentially, it's a funny film with a decent plot and twists along the way.
Overall, I highly recommend this cinema piece. It is rewatchable, and it keeps me laughing. My movie rating is an A.
